PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On July 9, 2019, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) provided an initial presentation regarding this initiative.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Given the continued and growing threat of extreme weather and wildfires, and as an additional precautionary measure following the 2017 and 2018 wildfires, PG&E is expanding and enhancing their Community Wildfire Safety Program to further reduce wildfire risks. Beginning with the 2019 wildfire season, PG&E will be expanding their Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program to include all electric lines that pass through high fire-threat areas for both distribution and transmission lines. Customers in in high fire-threat areas are more likely to be affected, a public safety power outage could impact many communities throughout Mendocino County. Attached is the Power Point handout from PG&E. Additionally, the County has been actively working on various measures in order to prepare for the impending power loss throughout the County.
