RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

1) Hear Off Agenda item pursuant to Government Code 54954.2 and move that this item will be added to the agenda as item 8a); and 2) adopt proclamation recognizing September 15 through October 15, 2019 as Latino Heritage Month in Mendocino County; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board of Supervisors regularly adopts proclamations recognizing important milestones and individual achievements.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Board is requested to consider adding adoption of the proclamation declaring September 15 through October 15, 2019 as Latino Heritage Month in Mendocino County to the agenda as an off agenda item which requires making appropriate findings by a 4/5ths vote. The Brown Act allows items to be added to the agenda if they came to the attention of the County after publication of the agenda and there is a need to take immediate action. In this case the item came to the attention of the County after publication of the agenda and because Latino Heritage Month began on September 15, any further delay would not be timely and would detract from the purpose of adopting the proclamation. Therefore, it is requested that the Board first vote on making the required findings to add this item to the agenda.
