June 30, 2017, Item 4(s), Adoption of Resolution No. 17-078 authorizing the Health and Human Services Agency Director to sign the Whole Person Care Pilot Program Funding Agreement with the California Department of Health Care Services.
Summary of Request:
On August 9, 2019, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) announced availability of one-time housing funds for Whole Person Care pilots. The funds are made available as part of a $100 million investment of State General Fund through the 2019-20 Governor’s Budget. The funding can be used for long-term and short-term housing as well as capital investments for housing projects for Medi-Cal beneficiaries who are mentally ill and are experiencing, or are at risk of experiencing, homelessness. Funds may be used to match local county investments, but cannot supplant existing funding. No local match is required.
The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) submitted a Letter of Interest to DHCS before the September 23, 2019, deadline in order to apply for Mendocino County’s allocation of $1,137,158.69. HHSA requests that the Board of Supervisors adopt the proposed supporting Resolution, which DHCS requires as part of formal acceptance of the County’s award, due by October 7, 2019.
