Summary of Request

The California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection (CBFFP) enforces the laws that regulate logging on privately owned lands in California under the rules of the Forest Practice Act (FPA) of 1973 and other related regulations.  These rules and regulations include a provision for the one time conversion of up to 3 acres of forested land to be converted to another land use such as a home site.  CBFFP acknowledges the importance of County participation in reviewing the conversion exemption applications to ensure that said applications are in conformance with all County regulatory requirements.  In order for a County to take advantage of this review opportunity, the Board of Supervisors must appoint a designee to review conversion exemption applications.  Should a County decline to appoint a designee, it relinquishes this opportunity until a designee is appointed.

Alternative Action/Motion:

If the Board chooses not to appoint a designee for review of these applications, the County will relinquish the opportunity to participate in this review process until a designee is appointed.
