Summary of Request

In collaboration with corporate entities and public agencies, the Scripps Institute of Oceanography (Scripps) established fire camera networks throughout California and has recently extended this network to Mendocino County.  Through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the County of Mendocino and Scripps that was executed on January 25, 2019, Scripps will provide the County with fire cameras, related installation equipment, and will install, maintain, and update all software necessary for the full function of these situational awareness cameras.

This MOU explains the mutual understanding of the roles and responsibilities between the County and CAL FIRE for the operation of the cameras.  The County will maintain the cameras once they have been deployed.  The County will provide CAL FIRE with access to the camera network so CAL FIRE is able to manipulate the cameras.  CAL FIRE will act as the primary operator of the fire camera network during fire incidents and notify the Mendocino County Sheriff Dispatch Center is connectivity is lost.
