SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Zero Waste Mendo is a local organization that promotes Zero Waste through education, advocacy and coordination with local governmental agencies, industry, business and local residents. The presentation by Zero Waste Mendocino will use "the 6 R's" of Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle and Rot to explain Zero Waste principles and provide practical tips on how to incorporate them into our daily lives. Among other benefits, Zero Waste can create jobs, reduce climate impacts, redirect unwanted but usable items to those who need them but may not be able to afford them, conserves resources and reduces pollution, and saves money and time while promoting a healthier lifestyle. Supervisors Gjerde and Mccowen request that the Board receive and discuss the presentation by Heather Guevara of Zero Waste Mendo and give direction as deemed appropriate.
