Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

2013 adoption of Resolution creating Mendocino County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority.

Summary of Request

The County of Mendocino administers a State approved and funded Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority in partnership with the Cities of Ukiah, Fort Bragg, and Willits.  The funding for this authority comes from a statutory $1 per vehicle registration fee, approved by a local ballot measure.  The Service Authority depends on removal and dismantling of vehicles abandoned on public and private property throughout the county.  On November 4, 2019, PBS released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for services related to Abandoned Vehicle Tow and Disposal Services, which resulted in 2 responsive submittals.  Ukiah Auto Dismantlers, LLC. was rated substantially higher with the most responsive proposal.  UAD has a history of cooperation in working with the Service Authority and is a reliable vendor to complete the necessary services.
