Summary of Request:
California Assembly Bills 995 and 531 provided funding to county child welfare agencies in the Budget Act of 2019 of $8 Million Dollars statewide to support the Transitional Housing Program-Plus (THP) and $5 Million Dollars statewide to support the Housing Navigation Program (HNP). THP funding for Mendocino County for Fiscal Year 2019-2020 is $24,000 and is to be used to help young adults ages 18-25 secure and maintain housing, with priority given to young adults formerly in the State’s foster care or probation systems. Continued funding past December 31, 2021, is subject to State budget appropriation. HNP funding for Mendocino County for Fiscal Year 2019-2020 is $18,660 and is one time funding available to use through June 30, 2022, for the support of housing navigators to help young adults ages 18-21 secure and maintain housing, with priority given to young adults in the foster care system.
