Summary of Request:
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act authorized aid to general aviation airports to assist with operational expenses during the COVID-19 public health emergency. Little River Airport is eligible to receive $30,000 in assistance and Round Valley Airport is eligible for $1,000. The funds can be used to cover eligible operational expenses during a four-year period beginning January 20, 2020. Department of Transportation (DOT) has already submitted the applications to the Federal Aviation Administration as they requested airport sponsors submit applications for assistance immediately to help expedite the distribution of funds. DOT is requesting the Board ratify the grant applications for assistance with operational expenses under the CARES Act and authorize the Director of Transportation to accept the grants and execute the grant agreements and sign any other necessary related documents on behalf of Mendocino County if awarded.
