Summary of Request:
On July 1, 2019, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Division of Communicable Disease Control, received $35,000,000 in one-time funds for local public health infrastructure and awarded Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health, $171,328.56 for the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Local - Infrastructure Project. The purpose of the grant is to implement public health activities to address gaps in core public health functions within the local health jurisdiction. Key strategic targets for infectious diseases prevention and control infrastructure are: surveillance; monitoring and evaluating disease-specific prevention activities; addressing local capacity to respond and surge for outbreaks; and laboratory and information technology. In April 2020, CDPH approved use of funds for COVID-19 response activities and requested that counties report use of funds for COVID-19 in the Annual Performance Progress Report.
Mendocino County Public Health received this grant Agreement in April 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, processing of the grant agreement and resolution for County review and signatures was delayed and has necessitated a retroactive start date.
