Discussion and Possible Action Regarding the Termination of Various Cannabis Ad Hoc Committees and Creation of One Cannabis Ad Hoc Committee

(Sponsor: Supervisor Haschak)

Recommended Action/Motion:

recommendation

Discuss and possible action to Terminate the Various Cannabis Ad Hoc Committees and Create One Cannabis Ad Hoc Committee.

End

Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

The Board of Supervisors has created three ad hoc committees: a cannabis cultivation ad hoc, a cannabis economic development ad hoc, and a regional ad hoc committee working with other counties on common issues. These ad hoc committees were all continued at the January 7, 2020 BOS meeting.

Summary of Request

The cannabis cultivation ad hoc consists of only Supervisor Haschak since Supervisor McCowen quit. The economic development ad hoc has not been active lately and according to the conversation during the June 23 BOS meeting, their work is done. The Regional ad hoc committee has not had any meetings this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and focus of counties on the crisis at hand. Termination of the ad hocs and then creation of one ad hoc to deal with cannabis issues will be more effective, streamlined, and avoid potential overlapping of work as well as Brown Act issues.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Take no action or adopt a different model for these ad hoc committees
