Summary of Request

Since the resignation of the previous contractor that acted as the Fish and Game Commission Secretary, there has been little interest by an individual to provide services.  As such, the Commission has not met in approximately one year and would like to begin meeting again on a regular basis.  Several Commissioners reached out to Planning and Building staff to see what could be done to allow the Commission to begin meeting and find an alternative to contracting for a secretary.  PBS has worked with County Counsel to discuss an amendment to the Fish and Game Commission Bylaws, Section 2.02 - Organizational Meeting, to allow for a Commissioner to be elected to serve as the Secretary without compensation.  PBS facilitated a meeting of the Commission on June 3, 2020, and prepared a memorandum which included draft changes to Section 2.02 of the Bylaws (see attached memo to the Commission).  The Fish and Game Commission made the proposed motion contained in the memo and unanimously voted to request the Board of Supervisor approve the amendment to the Bylaws.  Mendocino County Code Section 2.50.080 provides that the Commission may adopt and amend bylaws subject to the prior approval of the Board of Supervisors.  If approved by the Board, the Commission would amend their bylaws to make the changes specified in the attached memorandum at an upcoming meeting of the Commission.
