Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

August 21, 2018, the 2018-19 DCESP application was submitted and ratified by the Board of Supervisors to apply for the funds. September 10, 2019, the 2019-20 DCESP application was submitted and ratified by the Board of Supervisors to apply for the funds.

Summary of Request

On June 25, 2020 the 2020-21 application was released with a due date of August 14, 2020. The program helps fund the eradication and suppression of illicit Cannabis on Federal land. There is not sufficient time to complete the application and get it to the Board of Supervisors for approval before the due date. County Policy 25, Section One, Number Four, states that if there is a time restriction that limits the department from going to the Board, the CEO may approve signing as long as the Department takes the item to the Board of Supervisors at the next available meeting.  The Sheriff’s Office requested CEO approval to submit the application on July 30, 2020 and the completed 2020-21 application was submitted to the US DOJ DEA DCESP on August 7, 2020. Ratification of the application submission is being requested by the Board of Supervisors. Funding will be determined in the application process and applicants will be notified at a later date. Once they announce Mendocino County’s award, a request to approve acceptance of the funding will be brought to the Board of Supervisors per County Policy 25.
