Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
By Resolution Number (No.) 20-030 (March 24, 2020) the Board accepted Traffic Study Nos. 20-01, 20-02, and 20-03, recommending the establishment of a thirty-five miles per hour (MPH) prima facie speed limit on Boice Lane, County Road (CR) 413, from milepost (MP) 0.00 to MP 0.40, and on Pearl Drive, CR 412A, from MP 0.00 to MP 0.56, and the establishment of a forty-five MPH prima facie speed limit on Boice Lane, CR 413, from MP 0.40 to MP 1.26. By Resolution No. 20-031 (March 24, 2020) the Board accepted Traffic Study No. 19-11, recommending the establishment of a 40 MPH prima facie speed limit on Fort Bragg Sherwood Road, CR 419, from MP 0.00 to MP 1.75.
Summary of Request:
Area residents, concerned about speeding on Boice Lane, CR 413, from MP 0.00 to MP 1.26, and speeding on Pearl Drive, CR 412A, MP 0.00 to MP 0.56, and on Fort Bragg Sherwood Road, CR 419, from MP 0.00 to MP 1.75, requested from the Road Commissioner a speed study. The Road Commissioner found the applications meritorious and authorized the traffic studies. The recommendation of Traffic Study Nos. 20-01, 20-02, and 20-03, is to establish a thirty-five MPH prima facie speed limit on Boice Lane, CR 413, from MP 0.00 to MP 0.40, and on Pearl Drive, CR 412A, from MP 0.00 to MP 0.56, as well as to establish a forty-five MPH prima facie speed limit on Boice Lane, CR 413, from MP 0.40 to MP 1.26,and the recommendation of Traffic Study No. 19-11 is to establish a 40 MPH prima facie speed limit on Fort Bragg Sherwood Road, CR 419, from MP 0.00 to MP 1.75. Therefore, based on the recommendations of Traffic Studies referenced above the Mendocino County Department of Transportation is recommending amendments to Mendocino County Code for Boice Lane, CR 413, from MP 0.00 to MP 0.40, and for Pearl Drive, CR 412A, from MP 0.00 to MP 0.56, establishing a prima facie speed limit of thirty-five MPH, for Boice Lane, CR 413, from MP 0.40 to MP 1.26, establishing a prima facie speed limit of forty-five MPH, as well as, for Fort Bragg Sherwood Road, CR 419, from MP 0.00 to MP 1.75, establishing a prima facie speed limit of 40 MPH.
