RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:
recommendation
Accept presentation from PG&E regarding PSPS Program preparations in the County of Mendocino; receive update regarding the County's associated preparations.
End

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board received similar presentations from PG&E in July and August of 2019.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
As experienced by Mendocino County in 2019, if severe weather threatens a portion of the electric system, it may be necessary for PG&E to turn off electricity in the interest of public safety. These power shutoffs are known as Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS). The COVID-19 pandemic creates an entirely new complexity for PSPS planning and response in 2020. PG&E will explain how they are working to make PSPS events smaller in size, shorter in length, and smarter. Additional information, including a portal to share with PG&E to update your contact information and find answers to frequently asked questions can be found online at https://www.pge.com/en_US/safety/emergency-preparedness/natural-disaster/wildfires/public-safety-power-shutoff-faq.page . Additionally, the County has been actively working on various measures in order to prepare for the potential loss of power.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Do not receive the presentation; provide direction to staff.
