PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors has supported grant proposals submitted by the California Land Stewardship Institute (CLSI) in past years for the Russian River watershed.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The nonprofit organization California Land Stewardship Institute (CLSI) is requesting a support letter from the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors for a funding proposal for a Ukiah Valley Groundwater Basin Watershed Coordinator. The funding is from the Ca. Dept of Conservation and allows for coordinators for groundwater basins in the high and medium categories under SGMA. The CLSI coordinator would support local watershed activities such as development of groundwater recharge projects, well and stream flow monitoring, stream restoration, water conservation projects for farmers, coordination with private land owners, agencies and community groups and other tasks.

CLSI has worked with agricultural landowners in the Ukiah Valley for over 20 years through the Fish Friendly Farming and Fish Friendly Ranching Certification programs and the Russian River Frost program and has long term working relationships with numerous farmers and ranchers in the Ukiah Valley.
