Summary of Request:
In the Fiscal Year 2019/2020 state budget, Governor Newsom provided $23 million in new State General Funds to California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for home visiting services. CDPH released a Request for Supplemental Information (RSI) for the California Home Visiting Program (CHVP) to solicit applications from Local Health Jurisdictions for implementing home visiting as a primary intervention strategy for families from pregnancy through kindergarten entry, with a focus on innovation practice to meet local need. Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health, will submit a response to the RSI on September 30, 2020, which is an extension from the original deadline of September 16, 2020. If awarded, funds will be used to provide innovative outreach and home visiting services to eligible participants through the Healthy Families Mendocino County Home Visiting Program (HFMC) which has been implemented throughout the County since 2017 and based on the evidence based model of Healthy Families America. The proposed innovation funding will augment the approved service model to incorporate virtual visits and expand access to services during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
