SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
North Coast Opportunities (NCO) will work in close coordination with community partners to assist Mendocino County families suffering economically from the COVID-19 pandemic by providing direct financial assistance (e.g., rent payments, mortgage payments, and utility payments) and locally-sourced food boxes. Support will be coordinated through NCO's People Helping People Program. In addition, NCO will distribute mini-grants to farmers to support their ability to continue producing food during this time of economic hardship.

Direct financial assistance will be distributed through People Helping People case management process, which accepts applications for assistance and determines eligibility prior to making disbursements. Food boxes will be sourced from local farmers through the MendoLake Food Hub and distributed directly to People Helping People clients and/or to food banks or other safety net organizations. Minigrants for farmers will be distributed through the Good Farm Fund, using their established minigrant process.
