Summary of Request:
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) provides funds to the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program of the Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health Branch, to support pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women and their children. These funds enable the WIC program to provide services to help mothers and young children stay healthy. Qualifying WIC participants are eligible to receive nutrition education, vouchers for nutritious food, breastfeeding support, and referrals to medical providers and community services. WIC currently provides these supportive services at nine locations throughout the County.
The original amount of revenue Agreement No. 19-10160 was $2,861,604. The proposed amendment increases the Agreement by $49,950 for Fiscal Year 1, which brings the total of the Agreement to $2,911,554. The increased funding for Fiscal Year 1 will support the County’s needs for actual expenses invoiced for the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
