Recommended Action/Motion:

Adopt Resolution ratifying the Ordinance of the Ukiah Valley Fire District adopting the 2019 edition of the California Fire Code with amendments, regulating and governing the safeguarding of life and property from fire and explosion and for providing for the issuance of permits, repealing all other Ordinances and parts of Ordinances of the Ukiah Valley Fire District in conflict herewith; send signed ratified copies to the Ukiah Valley Fire District, Emergency Services, the Department of Housing and Community Development and County Counsel; and authorize Chair to sign same.

Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

Adoption of BOS Resolutions 08-053, 11-024, and 18-013, ratifying the adoption of the 2007, 2010, and 2016, respectfully, editions of the California Fire Code with amendments by Ukiah Valley Fire District.                     

 

Summary of Request

The Ukiah Valley Fire District has complied with Health and Safety Code section 13869.7(c) by adoption of the attached Ordinance Adopting the 2019 Edition of the California Fire Code with Amendments, Regulating and Governing the Safeguarding of Life and Property from Fire and Explosion and for Providing for the Issuance of Permits, Repealing All Other Ordinances and Parts of Ordinances of the Ukiah Valley Fire District in Conflict Herewith.  No Ordinance adopted by the District shall be effective until ratification by the County where the Ordinance will apply.  Upon ratification of an adopted ordinance, the County shall file a copy of the findings of the District, and any findings of the County, together with the adopted ordinance expressly marked and identified to which each finding refers, with the Department of Housing and Community Development.

 

At its meeting on August 18, 2020, the Board directed that this agenda item be continued to a future meeting date to allow for additional review of by the Building Official and County Counsel.  Please see the staff memorandum attached to this agenda packet for additional information.  Staff will be available for questions.
