Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
The Crisis Residential Treatment (CRT) project under the Measure B program was approved for construction and completion by the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors in the amount of $3,700,000.00 on August 18, 2020. (File #20-750, Item # 5j)
Summary of Request:
On October 22, 2020, bids for the Ukiah Crisis Residential Treatment (CRT) Facility were opened; four bids were received and bid results are included in the board packet. Facilities and Fleet reviewed the bids, and in addition to the Mental Health Citizen’s Oversight Committee recommend award to Cupples and Sons Construction, the lowest bidder including alternates 2 through 5.
The total proposed award is $3,134,765.00 (three million one hundred thirty-four thousand, seven-hundred sixty-five dollars). This is $565,235.00 less than the allotted budget. The construction contract includes construction of the building, and construction contingencies, but there will be “soft costs,” such as permits, that will fall outside of the fiscal scope as reviewed in the project budget.
Based on this information, Measure B recommends approval by the Board of Supervisors to award a construction contract to Cupples and Sons Construction to complete the CRT project, including alternates 2 through 5.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Reject all bids and provide direction to staff.
