Recommended Action/Motion:
recommendation

End
Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On May 5, 2020, the Board approved an agreement with the Community Foundation of Mendocino County to deploy funds to local agencies in order to provide food, water, and personal hygiene products during the Covid-19 pandemic to seniors and medically vulnerable members of our community, effective from April 1, 2020 through June 30, 2020.
Summary of Request:
For the duration of the previous contract with the Community Foundation of Mendocino County, they were able to award grants to 11 organizations throughout Mendocino County. As a result of this, these organizations were able to serve 76,000 meals and provide 686 food boxes to seniors and individuals with underlying health conditions or in quarantine.
Community Foundation is uniquely positioned within the County and is therefore able to quickly distribute funding in the form of grants to local agencies. The proposed agreement supports the Community Foundation of Mendocino County’s continued efforts to redistribute these funds so that local agencies can continue to provide food and hygiene items to seniors and medically vulnerable residents of Mendocino County during this ongoing pandemic.
This contract is retroactive to expedite getting the emergency food relief and personal hygiene products out to the seniors and medically vulnerable populations during the pandemic.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Return to staff for alternative handling.
