Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

On June 23, 2020, the Board of Supervisors created an ad hoc committee to explore the creation of a potential public safety advisory board.  On September 1, 2020, upon the recommendation of the ad hoc, the Board of Supervisors directed County Counsel to prepare the necessary legal framework to establish a public safety advisory board.

Summary of Request

On September 1, 2020, the Board of Supervisors directed County Counsel to prepare the necessary legal framework to establish a public safety advisory board.  Per the recommendation of the ad hoc committee, the Board indicated that it desired certain powers, limitations, and composition of that committee.  The proposed ordinance has been drafted to conform with those directives and is the first step to establishing the necessary legal framework for this advisory body.
