Approval of grant award for High-Speed Broadband in California Libraries Grant on December 15, 2020: agenda item 4h; approval of the 2020-2021 Budget, including expenses and grant revenue for the Library broadband improvements.
Summary of Request:
The Facilities and Fleet Division Manager is requesting authorization to establish a Capital Improvement Project to upgrade the data network wiring at the Willits Library and install new equipment racks in order to complete the broadband improvements made possible by a grant from the California State Library. The Capital Improvement Project consists of internal rewiring of the data network at Willits Library and installing new data equipment racks at Fort Bragg Library, Willits Library, and the future Laytonville Library.
Funding in the amount of $20,610.45 has been provided by a California State Library High-Speed Broadband in California Libraries grant in support of broadband improvements at Mendocino County Library through California Research and Education Network (CalREN) and the non-profit Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC). The Library will cover the remaining $14,007.55 which may be required for the project.
