Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
Approval of the 2019-2020 Budget including a Capital Improvement project for sealing and hardening microwave repeater sites at Sanhedrin and Spanish Mountains in the amount of $200,000 and additional funding at First Quarter of 2021 in the amount of 200,000.
Summary of Request:
Along with equipment improvements approved for the Microwave Radio system, the IT Master Plan, the Capital Improvement Plan and this Board have emphasized the need to upgrade the facilities and structures supporting the Microwave Radio antennas and equipment, specifically at the Sanhedrin site. This contract includes an evaluation of the existing forest service look-out building to determine if it can continue to reliably house this critical equipment well into the future, and provide design drawings to modernize or replace the building and facilities accordingly.

budget clarification: Current project funding of $392,000 for this site and the Spanish Mountain Microwave site will cover the cost of the upgrades at Spanish Mountain and this Sanhedrin site design. Until the evaluation is complete, final costs for the Sanhedrin improvements cannot be accurately estimated. Staff has included this project in our Notice of Intent to the CDBG for resiliency grant funding. If found to be eligible, staff will follow through with a grant application in the coming months, however due to the critical natures of this project, it cannot be deferred pending grant approval.
