Summary of Request

Atlas Planning Solutions is assisting the County in updating the Mendocino County multi-jurisdictional, multi-hazard local mitigation plan and the County’s General Plan Safety Element. To date, the local hazard mitigation plan has been adopted by the Board of Supervisors on December 8, 2020 and approved by FEMA on February 4, 2021.    Currently, the final draft of the General Plan Safety Element has been transmitted to Cal Fire for review and comment, and will be subsequently transmitted to the California Board of Forestry for review and certification.  Subsequently, the Element will then go to the Planning Commission for review and a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.  Based on the necessity to take the Element through the various hearing bodies, staff is requesting the additional time on the current contract.  This amendment will only extend the performance period to allow the consultant more time to complete the project and will not affect the budget nor completion deadline of the grant.  It is anticipated that the Safety Element will be coming to the Board of Supervisors in late April or early May of this year.
