Summary of Request

The Citizens’ Oversight Committee for Measure B voted on November 18, 2020, to recommend to the Board of Supervisors that $12,400 of Measure B Operations/Services funds be used to reimburse Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office for Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training that took place November 16-18, 2020, at Redwood Empire Fairgrounds.

Based on the long-established MEMPHIS MODEL, this joint training covered skills and resources available to police officers, mental health staff, and other first responders when responding to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis with the overall goals of increasing first responders’ awareness of the debilitating nature of mental illness and promoting positive contacts between first responders and those who live with mental illness.
