Accept the informational report and provide direction to Department Managers and the MCCAAC regarding the best collaboration strategy.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
This board appointed committee was initiated in 2019 in response to input from community members and the climate crisis. Fifteen people were appointed to the committee in late 2019. The Committee has been meeting regularly since that time.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Provide direction to the MCCAAC members and County Staff to clarify:
1. How MCCAAC can best work with County Departments to implement the "First Policy Priorities" (see attached).
2. How MCCAAC can best work with the Board of Supervisors regarding policy issues and major capital projects that have a climate component.
3. If MCCAAC members should engage in grant writing in collaboration with County Departments on behalf of climate issues for the County.
4. If MCCAAC members should engage in research on Climate Change impacts and adaptation strategies on behalf of the Board of Supervisors and County Departments.
5. Consider dedicating a small amount of funding ($5,000/year) to the MCCAAC to support MCCAAC activities.
