Summary of Request:
Capistran Ranch, LLC requests the establishment of an Agricultural Preserve and Williamson Act contracts over three groups of parcels in the Round Valley/Covelo area, totaling 982± acres of agricultural and rangeland. The land is used as grazing for the Capistran Ranch cattle holdings. The request was approved unanimously by the Planning Commission on December 3, 2020. See attached Memorandum to the Board, draft Resolution, Planning Commission Staff Report, and Planning Commission Resolution.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Deny the request for creation of a new Agricultural Preserve and Williamson Act contract, finding the project to be inconsistent with the goals and policies of the Genera Plan and/or the applicable sections of the Mendocino County Code, with respect to criteria necessary for inclusion into an Agricultural Preserve as found in Mendocino County’s Policies and Procedures for Agricultural Preserves and Williamson Act Contracts. Provide direction to staff.
