Summary of Request

This CAL FIRE grant -funded hazardous tree removal project removes hazardous trees on private properties within the Redwood Complex Fire footprint.  Mendocino County Resource Conservation District (MCRCD) is the contracted project manager implementing the project.  This project has treated 36 properties resulting in the felling of 355 hazardous trees and removal of 186 trees from participating properties.

This project requires program participants to have a cost share of $200 per tree for a maximum of $600.  There is no cost share if the property owners choose to keep or dispose of the felled trees themselves.  Cost shares have been sent to the County to deposit into a trust fund.  This amendment is simply to transfer all $10,200 of the cost share collected to MCRCD.  Since this project allows for a $50,000 capital expense, MCRCD has used that fund to purchase a chipper to be housed at the Redwood Valley-Calpella Fire Department.  MCRCD will use the $10,200 cost share to purchase support tools and supplies for the chipper.
