CDBG CARES Round 1 funding in the amount of $293,812 was allocated by the Board for microenterprise financial assistance through West Business Development Center. The Board has taken many actions in support of the purchase and renovation of a building for Project Homekey (Live Oak Apartments), including action on 8/4/20, 9/22/20, 10/20/20, 1/5/21/, 1/26/21, and 2/23/21.
Summary of Request:
This application to CDBG CARES Round 2 and 3 (CDBG-CV 2 & 3) will fund Phase II improvements to the Live Oak Apartments. Phase I (complete) included installation of kitchenettes in 30 rooms, and work in common areas: removal of a swimming pool and hot tub, accessibility improvements inside and outside, reconfiguration of the lobby area, creation of a meeting room, and first floor replacement of carpet with vinyl. Phase II will install kitchenettes in remaining rooms, continue the vinyl flooring installation, add solar panels, a gazebo, a fence along the northern property line, and other miscellaneous work to complete this new apartment complex housing individuals vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic. The $1,069,157 application includes $930,167 for the project, and $138,990 for administrative activities in support of the project.
