Summary of Request:
Chabot-Las Positas Community College provides trainings to local child welfare providers through an Agreement with Health and Human Services Agency, Family and Children's Services (FCS). These trainings specifically benefit providers who serve Federal Title IV-E eligible children (who are in, or at significant risk of entering, foster care) and their families. The State provides funding for the Agreement with matching amounts from Chabot and Title IV-E Federal child welfare training funds.
Trainings offered through the Agreement with Chabot are collaborative in nature. Chabot works directly with FCS and other local community-based organizations, such as FIRST 5 Mendocino, Mendocino County Youth Project, and Redwood Community Services, to offer trainings that support building comprehensive and consistent skills throughout the community. These skills support families and caregivers and increase the safety, permanency, and wellbeing of Mendocino County's foster children and youth.
Because of their collaborative nature, trainings are far-reaching and engage numerous participants countywide. In Fiscal Year 2019-20, Chabot provided a total of 2,580 hours of training and development covering 32 different training topics, an additional 16 different conferences and learning activities, with participants from over 60 agencies. (Fiscal Year 2020-2021 numbers are not yet available, but Chabot will submit them in a year-end review, due September 2021.)
