RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve the recurring temporary road closure of a portion of Ukiah Street from Lansing Street to Howard Street for the July 4th Community Gathering, hosted by the East Ukiah Street Merchant District (Village of Mendocino) from 6:00 A.M. to 8:00P.M.; and authorize and direct the Director of Transportation to issue the appropriate encroachment permit.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On June 3, 2014, the Board approved a temporary road closure of a portion of Ukiah Street County Road (CR) 407C from Lansing Street (CR 500) to Howard Street (CR 407N) for the 1st Annual July 4th Community Gathering hosted by the East Street Merchant District.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The July 4th Community Gathering is an annual event since 2014, held immediately after the July 4th Parade. It is hosted by the East Ukiah Street Merchant District. This event will require a temporary road closure of the portion of Ukiah Street from Lansing Street to Howard Street on July 4th from 6 A.M. to 8 P.M on an annual basis. Loud noises are prohibited between the hours of 6 A.M. to 7 A.M. Both lanes will be closed to non-permitted traffic and cross traffic will be controlled. The applicant will provide the necessary sign and flag person for traffic control.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
To not approve the requested street closure.
