Summary of Request

The Board of Supervisors (BOS), as the Chief Local Elected Official for the Mendocino County Local Workforce Development Area (LWDA), is the grant recipient of the Federal Department of Labor’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds (formerly Workforce Investment Act). Mendocino County is scheduled to receive the next round of formula funds for program years 2016/2018. The first allocation within Master Subgrant No. K7102041 is for Youth Formula funds in the amount of $ 221,300, which is retroactive to April 1, 2016. This Master Subgrant will be modified throughout the term period to include Adult, Dislocated Worker, Rapid Response and any Special Projects awarded by the Governor through the competitive grant application process. The latter figures will be unilaterally modified into the Master Subgrant with no requirement for signature by the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors. The entire 2016/2018 grant is estimated to total $787,302.  The State has forwarded the Master Subgrant agreement for signature and requested a resolution authorizing the Chair to sign the agreement.
