Summary of Request

The Chief Probation Officer has assigned a Deputy Probation Officer to the County’s Major Crimes Task Force.  Since the approval by the Board on October 21, 2014, to increase the Probation Departments’ fleet by one vehicle to provide a dedicated 4-wheel drive vehicle to this officer, the department has been utilizing a 4-wheel drive pickup truck that was recently retired from the Sheriff’s Office that had high miles, but otherwise serviceable.  Due to the higher miles and repeated service/repairs necessary to continue the operation of this vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s office have agreed to purchase a new vehicle for the Deputy Probation Officer assigned to the Task Force utilizing Asset Forfeiture Funds.  The current vehicle (#20-040) will be retired and reassigned to the County Garage.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Return to the Probation Department with further instructions.
