RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Adopt Resolution authorizing Revenue Agreement with CalTrans in the amount of $215,000 for fy's 2016-17 and 2017-18 to provide one correctional deputy to supervise County inmate crews performing certain roadside maintenance and repair work specified by CalTrans; authorize the Sheriff to sign any amendments to the Agreement that do not increase the annual maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
May 7, 2013, approved Resolution to enter into contract with CalTrans; May 5, 2015, approved Amendment to extend term date of CalTrans contract.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Sheriff's Office entered into a cooperative agreement with CalTrans on June 1, 2013, to provide one correctional deputy and a crew of County inmates to perform roadside maintenance and repair work as specified by CalTrans. On May 5, 2015, the Board approved an amendment to extend the end date of the Agreement from May 31, 2015, to May 31, 2016. The Agreement with CalTrans for County inmate services has been a successful venture. Inmate crews, supervised by a County Correctional Deputy and project management by CalTrans, perform roadside maintenance and repair work on State highways that traverse the County.
