RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve the Service Agreement with Solano County, establishing the financial framework for a Workforce Development Board (WDB) partnership with the North Bay Business Sector Alliance (NBBSA); authorize the Planning and Building Services Director to sign any future amendments to the Agreement that do not affect the maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Workforce Development Board (WDB) of Mendocino County along with five other North Bay counties, North Bay Business Sector Alliance (NBBSA), were recently awarded a $1M SlingShot grant from the California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) to improve workforce development programs and income mobility in the region. The CWDB conducted a one-time competitive grant allocation for the establishment of collaborative efforts among employers, industry, government, workforce and economic development, and education stakeholders within regions throughout California to identify and then work to solve business challenges. In response, the Workforce Investment Board of Solano County applied for the CWDB SlingShot funds as a member of a five county collaborative of workforce development agencies called the North Bay Employment Connection (NBEC).
