Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

The Board of Supervisors has historically scheduled joint meetings and workshops with various advisory boards, committees and commissions, on an as needed basis. On July 6, 2016 the Board of Supervisors directed staff to present an item on a future Board agenda regarding scheduling joint meetings with advisory boards and commissions.

Summary of Request

The Board provided direction to staff to present an item that would allow the Board the opportunity to discuss scheduling joint meetings with the various advisory boards, committees and/or commissions under their appointing authority.  The Board has conducted the following joint meetings in recent years:

December 8, 2015 - Library Advisory Board (originally scheduled for November 3, 2015)

January 19, 2016 - Retirement Board

There have been numerous requests for joint meetings with the Board from various boards, committees and/or commissions, including the Library Advisory Board, the Museum Advisory Board and the Behavioral Health Advisory Board.  Due to the number of boards and/or commissions under the Board’s appointing authority, the Board may wish to consider alternating their joint meetings to ensure fair representation and public participation.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Do not provide direction to staff.
