Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
Ongoing Agreement since 2007; last action October 20, 2015, Item No. 4(c).
Summary of Request:
This contract provides funding for supportive housing to young adults who otherwise would be homeless. Redwood Community Services, Inc. (RCS) is the only program in Mendocino County licensed by the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing to provide Transitional Housing Program-Plus (THP-Plus) services to young adults, ages 18 to 24, who have exited the foster care system. This includes non-minor dependents who are no longer eligible for extended foster care (AB 12) due to reaching the age limit of 21 for that program. The program decreases homelessness among former foster youth and helps them gain skills to become independent and self-sufficient. Eligible former foster youth are able to participate in the program up to 24 cumulative months between the ages of 18 and 24. This Agreement will provide funding to serve approximately five former foster youth per month.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Return to staff for alternative handling.
