Summary of Request

The California Department of Public Health, Women, Infants and Children program (CDPH/WIC) has funding available to improve recruitment, retention and re-engagement of eligible WIC applicants/participants. The development of innovative strategies and methods are intended to meet the changing needs of WIC applicants/participants, increase the perceived value of WIC, improve access to WIC and/or improve the delivery of WIC services.  In an effort to better serve families who are eligible for WIC, under the umbrella of the Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health will partner with Social Services for co-location, co-enrollment, and to streamline processes for WIC participant certification. Grant activities will focus on current and innovative strategies that improve the WIC participant experience and result in increased enrollment. There are no cost-sharing or matching requirements.  If granted, contract term will be three years (FFY 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19) with funds ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 each FFY (10/1 through 9/30). Please provide minute order to staff for further processing.
