End

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
February 9, 2016, Item No. 4(e); and August 18, 2015, Item No. 4(l).

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
In Mendocino County, qualified non-minor dependents, ages 18 to 21, may participate in the Extended Foster Care (AB 12) program through the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), Family and Children's Services (FCS). Mendocino County Youth Project (MCYP) has extensive experience working with homeless young adults and providing housing for them. For the past two years, HHSA has collaborated with MCYP to provide emergency housing to AB 12 non-minor dependent young adults who have voluntarily chosen to remain in the foster care system and under the jurisdiction of the Mendocino County Juvenile Court, but currently have no housing. Mendocino County FCS is responsible for assisting AB 12 non-minor dependents with housing and services, therefore, it is necessary and cost-effective that we continue to contract for emergency housing.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Return to staff for alternative handling.
