PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board of Supervisors has previously authorized the consolidation of Coastal Development Permits for other projects with shared jurisdiction between the County and the California Coastal Commission where public participation was determined not to be impaired.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) is requesting a consolidated Coastal Development Permit to authorize geotechnical drilling at the Albion River Bridge of State Route 1. The geotechnical drilling will occur adjacent to the existing Albion River Bridge and on both sides of the Albion River. The project is necessary for bridge foundation design for the proposed bridge replacement project. The project area is located on parcels with split jurisdiction between the County of Mendocino and the California Coastal Commission. The proposed consolidation request would allow for streamlined processing of the project and review of the entire project in one permit.
