PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
March 25, 2014, Item 4(G), Anderson Valley Ambulance Service (AVAS); December 2, 2014, Item 4(m), LVFPD; March 1, 2016, Item 4(k), LVFPD; and, as requested by providers.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Long Valley Fire Protection District and Laytonville Fire Department Ambulance have requested the Board of Supervisors and County EMS request that certain volunteer "Ambulance Drivers" be exempt from the requirement of obtaining "emergency medical training" within one year of being licensed to drive an ambulance, as outlined in Title 13, CA Vehicle Code, Section 12527(d)(1). The request must be from both the County Board of Supervisors, and any one of the following: the Public Health Officer, The Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC), EMS Administrator or the EMS Coordinator, as required by Title 13, CA Vehicle Code, Section 12527(d)(2). Sonoma County will submit the second letter as the EMS Administrator.

This exemption is necessary due to the limited availability of volunteers wishing to provide donated time and/or service to the ambulance provider in anything other than a "driver" role. As each driver must apply as an individual with their own letter(s), EMS will fac...
