PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On January 2, 2002, the Board approved an agreement with Aircon Energy for energy retrofit services for the Public Health facility on Dora Street.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Aircon Energy, serving northern California since 1974, specializes in turnkey energy and sustainability project identification, development and implementation for state and local governments. Projects range from identifying and implementing solutions to reduce energy and water costs, such as interior/exterior lighting and controls to water usage and irrigation. The premise behind project identification is to determine what facility renewal measures are applicable and will generate a proportionate amount of savings that basically make the project cost neutral, such as alternative energy solutions control systems and/or sustainable materials and operations.

As the County's facilities continue to age and maintenance costs rise, staff have been proactive in readily identifying and implementing measures to reduce utility costs by installing LED lighting and drought tolerant landscaping where possible. Inasmuch, building envelope improvements, control systems, and heating, air-conditioning and ventilation (HVAC) technologies have vastly improved since 2003, the last time Aircon Energy performed an assessment and project for the County.
