The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors routinely makes appointments to various County boards and commissions.

 

Summary of Request

The Mendocino County Assessment Appeals Board currently has vacancies for one Member position and two Alternate Member positions. Since early 2016 the Clerk of the Board staff have advertised and recruited for applicants to the Assessment Appeals Board. During the recruitment period the Clerk of the Board received applications from two eligible applicants, Mr. Kraemer and Mr. Swope.

 

The California Board of Equalization Assessment Appeals Manual states: A person is not eligible for nomination for membership on an assessment appeals board unless he or she meets one of the following criteria:

 

(a) Has a minimum of five years professional experience in this state as a certified public accountant or public accountant, a licensed real estate broker, an attorney, a property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization, or a property appraiser certified by the Office of Real Estate Appraisers.

 

(b) Is a person who the nominating member of the board of supervisors has reason to believe is possessed of competent knowledge of property appraisal and taxation.

 

Documentation of qualifying experience of appeals board members shall be filed with the Clerk of the Board. Cal. Rev. & Tax. Code § 1624
