End
Recommended Action/Motion:
recommendation
Receive the informational training presentation on the Incident Command System.
End
Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
The Board commonly receives informational presentations.
Summary of Request:
To be eligible for federal and state emergency and grant funding the County of Mendocino must adopt the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS), which it has done. NIMS and SEMS provides a consistent structure and template to enable all government, private-sector, and non-governmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents. A component of NIMS and SEMS is training in the Incident Command System (ICS), which is required for all permanent fulltime County staff.
If the Board chooses to receive the informational training presentation the County Office of Emergency Services staff will provide a review of the ICS training provided to county employees and will also provide overview of the FEMA G-402 course which is ICS training specifically developed for appointed and elected officials. This informational presentation will briefly describe the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of NIMS, SEMS, and ICS.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Return to staff for alternate handling.
