On June 21, 2016, the Board of Supervisors authorized Agreement No. 16-029 in an amount not to exceed $66,350. On September 9, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved the FY 2015-16 Mendocino County Final Budget, which included $75,000 in funding to upgrade the County’s website. This funding was carried over into the FY 2016-17 Proposed Budget.
Summary of Request:
Improving technologies, including our County website, are important aspects in delivery of services for citizens, maintaining transparency within the governmental processes and to quickly and effectively provide citizens with information. To improve our website design and function to meet current website best practices, the Executive Office began researching website development options. Ease of navigation, having an intuitive and adaptive interface and the capability to update not only the webpage but various forms of social media simultaneously were key components in researching and choosing a website development company.
Vision Technology Solutions (Vision) provides unique, creative and responsive designs, functional layout, consistency, Section 508 compliance, security, easy-to-use and navigate menus, and advanced government-focused content management. In addition, the content management system allows for ease of use and the ability for pages to be updated quickly while maintaining a consistent look and feel.
Vision will provide customization services to enhance “widgets” that depict multiple current weather information for the sum, which will be funded with FY 2016-17 carried forward funding from the Information Services budget.
In addition, Vision will create an Advanced Subsite for the Mendocino County Library, which will meet the needs of said department by expanding content and services to the public. The Advanced Subsite includes: comprehensive services, consultation, and tailored navigation. The Library Advanced Subsite also will include VisionLive subscription services, updates and maintenance fees. The Library has sufficient funding in the FY 2016-17 Adopted Budget to fund the project in an amount not to exceed $15,250.
Alternative Action/Motion:
