Summary of Request

On September 20, 2016, the Governing Board of the Mendocino Unified School District adopted a resolution requesting the Board of Supervisors for the County of Mendocino to authorize consolidation of the District’s election of their governing board with the statewide General Election in November of each even-numbered year. Pursuant to California Election Code Section 10404.5(d)(1), the Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters has provided an impact analysis and public notices were given to school districts in Mendocino County and the County Office of Education by the Mendocino County Executive Office-Clerk of the Board in accordance with Election Code Section 10404.5(c), and posted in accordance with Government Code Section 25151.  Election Code Section 10404.5(d)(1) requires that the Board of Supervisors approve the resolution unless it finds that Mendocino County’s ballot style, voting equipment or computer capacity is such that additional elections or materials cannot be handled. As stated in the impact analysis, no evidence exists to support such a finding at this time.
