recommendation

Introduce and waive first reading of an Ordinance amending Chapter 18.16 of the County Code relating to the Master Grid and Property Numbering System.

End

Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

Chapter 18.16 was initially adopted in 1971, and subsequent amendments were adopted in 1971, 1972 and 1982.

Summary of Request

The Department is proposing changes to provide clarification and definition to existing property addressing processes and to eliminate outdated or irrelevant sections.  Changes include clarifying east/west and north/south address base lines; allowing discretion for addressing unimproved parcels; clarifying the process used to determine the address range for a road and how numbers are assigned; limiting property numbers to whole numbers only with limited exceptions; requiring posted road signs for private roads; requiring roads to serve four dwellings and/or business establishments rather than four parcels for road name petitions; designating the Address Coordinator as the system administrator, instead of the Building Inspector; amending the penalty provisions; as well as renumbering sections for clarity and making minor technical amendments.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Provide further direction to staff or take no action.
