PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Board of Supervisors referred this matter to the General Government Committee on November 14, 2016; General Government Committee referred this matter to Board of Supervisors on December 12, 2016. The Board of Supervisors introduced and waived reading of the ordinance on December 19, 2016.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
County Counsel and PBS propose this ordinance to establish the Office of County Hearing Officer. This new chapter will satisfy due process requirements in conformance with the language in Government Code section 27720, et seq. It will also standardize the process when utilizing hearing officers, identify the required qualifications, powers and responsibilities of hearing officers, provide rules regarding the process of appointing and contracting with hearing officers, and create consistency within the code.
